Vermont Studio Center
Twenty-four 5-inch speakers hung at eye-level arranged in a horizontal circle. Speaker wire for each speaker starts at the very edge of the room, where the floor and the wall meet. The wire then runs along the floor to the middle of the room, then up through space to the end where the speaker is attached at eye-level. A bright light is directly in the middle of the circle of speakers, casting shadows around the room and deflecting the participants view from the middle of the circle.
The sound of a Tibetan singing bowl swirls around the speakers along with a heartbeat emanating behind the sonic intervals of the meditation bowl, keeping the tempo of breath.
All sound files on this website are abbreviated versions of the actual installation.
