“Keys that fit” window
Oakland, California: a bustling, industrial city full of raw spaces and more “reality” than it’s neighboring city across the Bay. I felt more of a mechanical character, a vortex of activity swirling with every bit of debris thinkable.
‘Vortex’ consisted of over 2000 feet of audio wire and 20 raw speaker cones. The swirl of wire converged in the middle of this tight space, flinging speakers SPLAT! against the windows. The lowest frequencies of machine recordings from within the Oakland Metro area where used that simply rumbled the glass while sounding. Both window displays were used; one could stand between the two (within the doorway of the building) and feel the rumble of industry encompass them.
